This May Prof. Pieter Dijkstra and Willem Nesse will probably join Hendri Susanto, Bu Dewi and the Oral Med dept. in Yogyakarta Indonesia to work on research linking periodontitis to DM and RA.

Tuesday evening March 17th 2010, another succesful lecture was held at the UMCG introducing PISA and research results of the relationship between periodontitis and both RA &DM.

Recently we recieved mail from Schotland asking for a tool that enabled PISA calculation when the Location of the Gingival Margin was negative (i.e. in case of gingival overgrowth). To facilitate PISA calculation two extra tools have been developed (making a total of three): one enabling the calculation of PISA using PPD only, the other using CAL and LGM and the the third using CAL and LGM when LGM is negative smaller or equal to CAL. These spreadsheets will hopefully be available online soon.

Dr. Pieter Dijkstra is now PROFESSOR Pieter Dijkstra, congrats on this major achievement!!

We are happy to announce that a collaboration has recently started between us and Prof. George W. Taylor and Masanori Iwasaki of the University of Michigan, USA.

Yvonne and Evelien finished their Master of Dentistry theses.

After a very succesful oral presentation at the ACR 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting, research linking periodontitis to Rheumatoid Arthritis has now taken full flight.

September 2009

Vertimart, invited us on their yearly “users day” to introduce and explain PISA, which they first introduced in their software programme for dentists, periodontists and dental hygienists, Exquise. Recently Komplan also introduced PISA into their programme for the general dentist and dental hygienist Vistadent.

Periodontal Clinics in the North of the Netherlands held a Meeting for Dental Hygienists and also invited us to talk about PISA.
